Auditorium de Dijon, France
Engineers: Arjen van der Schoot, Aram Verwoest
Inaugurated on 20 June 1998, the Auditorium of Dijon is the result of the collective work of the architectural firms Arquitectonica (Miami) and Bougeault-Walgenwitz (Dijon), assisted by Richard Martinet (Paris). The hall's acoustics are among the most beautiful of Europe, in part designed by renowned ARTEC from New York, the company that was responsible for excellent sounding Birmingham Opera and Auditorium de Lucerne. The grand hall can comfortably seat up to 1611 people. The acoustics are in fact variable to a certain degree using automated tapestries, a removable stage wall, and large wooden variable diffusors throughout the auditorium. Several acoustic settings were sampled of which fully wet and fully dry can be used in this set of samples. DPA 4006 Omni directional microphones and a Genelec 1037 were used as the key components in obtaining these samples. |
